TL;DR: These technologies need to be tested more thoroughly before humans and other biological life forms are subjected to forced exposure; the residents and wildlife around these devices often have no say in their own exposure level to these experimental technologies, which use microwaves.

Microwave EMF radiation is caused by use of cellphones, wifi, bluetooth, and other forms of wireless communication. Long term studies of various forms of microwave EMF saturation have not been conducted for a period with sufficient length to study the effects of radiation on humans and other biological life forms. Short term studies have shown that cancer rates are higher for people who use a cellphone pressed against their head for an hour a day or more.
Keep in mind that every app you run on your smartphone will increase the level of radiation and this factor can be multiplied by the number of cellphones in your home and in the surrounding area. EMF radiation levels in cities (and even in rural areas) has been increasing exponentially in recent years with the advent of the smartphone. Radiation from radio frequencies is classed in the same category of carcinogens as a lead.
One advisor to the World Health Organization said there's enough evidence that if they were to re-evaluate radio frequency radiation...

Beamforming means being able to focus beams of radiation on specific areas. Up to now, a large area of radiation has been filled in the communication between the mobile phone and the antenna. Due to the width of the bundle, this actually causes a lot of unnecessary radiation. But with new antennas, the radiation can only be limited to the area around the caller."
